Ring of Hircine Daedric Artifact Effect Details in Skyrim

Ring of Hircine has the following special effect(s):

"Provides unlimited transformations for werewolves."

  • The Ring of Hircine essentially bypasses the once-a-day transformation limit of the Beast Form power. This can be done by equipping the ring and using the power in the Magic tab. Once the transformation wears off, simply re-equip the ring and use the power once again. This can be done an unlimited number of times.
  • Note that this ring will have no effect if you have not contracted Lycantrophy via The Companions Questline or if you have cured yourself of the disease.

How to obtain the Ring of Hircine Daedric Artifact in Skyrim

Ring of Hircine can be obtained as follows:

  • Complete the quest "Ill Met by Moonlight" which is available in Falkreath after hearing rumors of the murder of a little girl, or by speaking to the girl's parents holding a funeral at the graveyard.
  • Note that the Ring of Hircine is one of two Daedric Artifacts that can be obtained from the same quest, with the other being the Savior's Hide.
  • The ring is acquired by sparing Sinding, the werewolf central to the quest and then having Hircine purify the cursed variant of the ring. The Savior's Hide is acquired by killing Sinding and skinning him. However, both can be acquired at once by first going through with the Ring of Hircine path; Spare Sinding, Cleanse the Ring, Complete the Quest. Afterwards, return to the cave and kill Sinding to obtain the Savior's Hide cuirass. Note that you cannot acquire the ring if you choose to kill Sinding first. This is an important consideration when going for the Oblivion Walker achievement.

Skyrim Ring of Hircine Daedric Artifact Notes & Trivia

  • During the quest, the Dragonborn is given the Cursed Ring of Hircine variant by Sinding. This ring is automatically equipped and cannot be removed except by Hircine himself. However, if the player has contracted Lycanthropy, they have a 10% chance of turning into a Werewolf, which will remove the ring upon transformation.
  • The cursed variant of the ring can be kept by giving it to a follower before completing the quest. You will still receive the uncursed Ring of Hircine as a completely separate item.
